This painting captures the picturesque Old Town Graveyard on a sunny afternoon when the warm summer wind blows through, animating the scene. The lower half of the painting, long grasses sways in rhythmic waves around the still and motionless tombstones. The gust blows upwards to the canopy of trees, leaves painted in loose brushstrokes purposefully placed to swirl and sway like flames, making the invisible wind visible. Movement is further depicted in the dappled light across the across the pathway and highlighting the grass. Old Town church is nestled in the background, door open, inviting you in to the stillness of its interior.
